Hurricane
CNG 90 & CNG 125

The Hurricane CNG 90 and CNG 125 compressors produce 90 SCFM and 125 SCFM respectfully. The trailer mounted shown above is generally used as an emergency backup compressor, to allow continued station operation while the existing stationary compressor is shutdown for service or repair.

These 3 stage compressors use a direct coupled Natural Gas Engine as there prime movers. The engine requires 13% of the total compressed gas produced to provide power for compression. The total gas flow required for the CNG 90 unit calculates as follows

CNG 90 - 90 SCFM compression rate x 60 Min. = 5,400 SCF / Hr.
5,400 SCF / Hr. x 1.13 = 6,102 SCF / Hr.
6,102 SCF / Hr. - 5,400 SCF / Hr. = 702 SCF / Hr. Gas used in compression.
This is equivalent to 7 Therms / Hr. x $ 0.52  / Therm =  $ 3.64 / Hr. Energy Cost

While this type of equipment does require more frequent maintenance than the typical  Electric motor driven stationary compressor system. It also provides very significant cost savings both in installation and operation.
